Introduction

Hao-Ching Hsia (夏晧清) received the B.E., M.E. and Ph.D. degree in Urban Planning from National Cheng Kung University in 2000, 2003, and 2013, respectively. He was also a visiting scholar in school of Civil and Environmental Engineering of University of New South Wales, New South Wales, Australia during 2010-2011. In 2018 he joined the college of Social Science, National Sun Yat-Sen University (NSYSU), Taiwan, and is currently an assistance professor in PIS. His recent research interests include spatial planning, urban transportation planning, data analysis and visualization, intelligent transportation system, social dilemma and countermeasures, as well as smart city. He was the Co-PI of the Research Center for Kaohsiung-Pingtung-Penghu Regional Transport Development during 2018-2020. His course, SMALL-AREA TRANSPORTATION PLANNING, opened in 2020 spring, was recognized by NSYSU as Superior Teaching Performance course. He now handles a new Lab in PLS, named Planning Science Lab (PSL). PSL attempts to analysis all kinds of social problems quantitatively and propose possible measures for solving them. “Discovering problems as a sociologist, fixing problems as an engineer.” is the motto of PSL.
